Raja UDAY PRATAP SINGH, present Raja Saheb of Bhadri, born September 23rd 1939, educated at Doon School, Dehra Dun; he succeeded by adoption; married Manjul Raje, daughter of HH Maharaja Radha Charan Singh of Samthar and has issue.

  • Kunwar Raghuraj Pratap Singh [Raja Bhaiya], born on 31st October 1969 in Kunda, Pratapgarh Dist., U.P., educated at Mahaprabhu Bal Vidayalaya Narayni Asram Shivkuti, Allahabad, at Bharat Scout H.S. School, at Colonel Ganj Inter College, Allahabad and at Lucknow University, graduating with a Law Degree; M.L.A. (Uttar Pradesh) 1993/-; Minister of Programme Implementation 1997/1999; Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare 1999/2000; Minister of Food and Civil Supplies 2004/2007; Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Jail [15.3.2012] – [4.3.2013]; married Kunwarani Bhanvi Kumari, and has issue, two sons and two daughters.

Short History

The family of Bhadri is a younger branch of that of Kalakankar and belongs to the Bisen family, of which the head is the Raja of Rampur (Dharupur), while the head of the whole clan of Bisens is the Raja of Majhauli.

  • Rai JIT SINGH, Rai of Bhadri, attended a Darbar where he was confirmed in the title of Rai, he quarreled with the Nazim, Mirza Jan, and was killed, married and had issue. He was killed in 1748.

  • Rai ZALIM SINGH, Rai of Bhadri, he fled from the Nazim in 1748, but was afterwards returned to his estate; in 1810, he was seized and the estate was place under direct management; married Rani Sheoraj Kunwar, she recovered the fort of Bhadri by force of arms and held the taluqa until her husband was released in 1815, and he made over the estate to his son.

    • Rai Bishnath Singh, he and his older brother got into trouble with the Nazim, Ihsan Husain Khan, who attacked and pursued them to Ramchaura on the Ganges river, in British Territory, there they were surrounded and killed.
  • Rai GOPAL SINGH, Rai of Bhadri 1815/-, he died young leaving an infant son, married and had issue, one son.

  • Rai JAGAT BAHADUR SINGH, Rai of Bhadri, married and had issue. He died 15th February 1878.

  • Rai SARABJIT SINGH, Rai of Bhadri, born 10th December 1853, succeeded to the estate and title 15th February 1878, his title of Rai was recognized as a hereditary distinction on 14th November 1879; married and had issue. He died before 1910.

  • Raja BAJRANG BAHADUR SINGH, Raja of Bhadri, born about 1905, Lieutenant Governor of Himachal Pradesh 1955/1963; he adopted his nephew as his successor; married 1926, Rani Girija Devi, third daughter of HH Sawai Maharaja Punya Pratap Singhji of Ajaigarh, and his wife, HH Maharani Rukmini Devi, and had adoptive issue. He died sp after 1970.
