Thakur NARENDRA SINGH, present Thakur Saheb of Bidwal since 16th March 2009, (26, Saket Nagar, Indore 452001, Madhya Pradesh, India), educated at Daly College, Indore; married Thakurani Srimati Narendra Kumari, daughter of Capt. Maharaj Kesri Singh of Kapren, and his wife, Rani Devendra Kanwar, and has issue, one daughter.

  • Baisa Bhumika Kumari Singh, educated at Daly College, Indore, at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Shimla (graduate) and Sophia College, Mumbai (post-graduate), married Rajkumar Akshay Singh of Pawayan on 18th April 2018

Short History

The family of Bidwal is descended from Maharaja Udai Singhji of Jodhpur. Maharaja Udai Singh’s fourth son, Dalpat Singh, was given the Balahera Pargana in Marwar as a maintenance Jagir. His eldest son Mahesh Das succeeded him. He had five sons. The family of the eldest son Maharaj Ratan Singhji is in Ratlam and the family of his third son, Maharaj Fateh Singhji is in Bidwal. Ratlam is the head of the Rajputs in Malwa and Bidwal is the head of Fatehsingot branch of Rathore clan of Rajputs.

Thikana of Bidwal enjoys Civil and Criminal powers and has its own Police and Jail.

  • Thakur JASWANT SINGH, Thakur of Bidwal 1886/- , born 14th June 1881, succeeded by adoption in 1886. He was educated at the Daly College, Indore, and left it in 1898. He was invested with full powers by the Dhar Durbar on Vijayadashami in the same year. He was a progressive and enlightened chief. He had made many improvements in his estate. He was immensely popular with his people for his good conduct and gentle and polite manners. Built a palace and a pucca Garh at a cost of about one lac of rupees. He had opened a school and a properly equipped dispensary for his people. He was extremely kind-hearted and had given to his cultivators remissions in the arrears of land revenue to the extent of Rs. 80,000 as a measure of relief for them. He went to England and toured Europe in 1937. He married a niece of the Maharao of Bundi, and had issue.
    • Thakur Saheb Dule Singhji, educated at Daly College, Indore; married 1916 at Mandawa, Shrimant Thakurani Saheba Ballabh Kunwarji, daughter of Thakur Inder Singh of Mandawa-Senior, and his first wife, Thakurani Suraj Kanwar, and had issue.

  • Thakur PRITHVIRAJ SINGH, Thakur of Bidwal 1952/2009, born 27th January 1921 at Bidwal, educated at Daly College, Indore, Honourary A.C. Khandwa Nimar, India, married 15th February 1945 at Danta-Ramgarh, Rajasthan, Thakurani Shrimant Daulat Kunwarji, daughter of Thakur Ganga Singh of Danta, and had issue. He died 16th March 2009.

    • Baiji Lal Shobha Kumari [Rani Shobha Kumari of Kutch], married Maharaj Shri Ghanshyamsinhji Zorawarsinhji Jadeja of Kutch, and has issue.
    • Thakur Ratan Singh, educated at Daly College, Indore; married Thakurani Kalpana Kumari from Kunda in Bihar, and has issue, three sons.
      • Lt. Col. Kunwar Dhananjai Singh, educated at Daly College, Indore, at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and then IMA, Dehradun. Married to Kunwarani Divya Kumari, daughter of Th. Prithvi Raj Singh and Thakurani Shobha Kumari of Kunadi.
      • Kunwar Dhruv Singh, educated at Daly College, Indore and at Simbiosis College, Pune (B.Com.), presently an elected member of Janpad Panchayat from Bidwal, married Kunwarani Mumal Shekhawat, daughter of Th. Dilip Singh Shekhawat and Thakurani Chandrika Kumari of Chhapoli (Rajasthan) and has issue, one son.
