Short History
Thakur Bhopal Singhji, a noted soldier statesman and the younger brother of Th. Ratan Singhji of Chomu (Jaipur), in the mid 1700s established the Thikana of Ajairajpura. The jagir was a large holding including the villages of Lawan, Dholi, Jalsu, Duni, Belaudarpur, Chobriwala, Malani, Tolawas, Hundawas, Shyampura and Jaitpura. He built the Lawan Fort which stands even today. Lawan and Duni later became Thikanas by themselves. More recently in the 1940s Maj. Gen. Rawal Amar Singhji of Ajairajpura was Army and later the Home Minister of Jaipur State. The family has always had a progressive outlook, earlier subscribing to the Hindu reformist Bhakti and Dadu Panthi movements, and now to a democratic humanist ideology.
