Kunwar Rajeshwar Pratap Sahi and Justice Kunwar Amreshwar Pratap Sahi, sons of the Late Kunwar Bisheshwar Pratap Sahi of Tamkuhi (qv), joint Zamindars of Anapur since 9th April 1989.

Short History

A compact estate with a history spanning more than 300 years, situated mostly in the districts of Ballia, Ghazipur and Allahabad. It is situated about 59 kilometers by road from Allahabad. 

Predecessors

  • Babu Shri CHINTAMAN SINGH, Zamindar of Anapur, the estate was divided between his two younger sons; married and had issue, three sons.
    • Babu Shri Devki Nandan Singh (second son), he rose to a high position in the area, prior during pre-British settlement, married and had issue, the Mohalla Ramapura branch in Banaras
    • Babu Shri (name unknown) Singh (third son), married and had issue, the Anapur branch, which succeeded to the entire estate after the extinction of the Senior line.
  • Babu Shri RAN SINGH, Zamindar of Anapur, married and had issue.
    • Babu Shri Beshundutt Singh, married and had issue.
      • Babu Shri Ram Shevak Singh, married and had issue.
        • Babu Shri Shewshankar Singh, married and had issue.
          • Babu Shri Sidha Narain Singh, married Srimati Indrawas Kuar, and had issue.
            • Maharani Janki Kuar, born 1870, married 1893 (as his second wife), Maharaja Harendra Kishore Singh Bahadur of Bettiah. She died sp on 27th November 1954.
            • Babu Shri Gopal Saran Singh, adopted by Babu Shri Har Shankar Prasad Singh (see below); married and had issue, one daughter.
              • Kumari (name unknown) Kuar, married a Babu Saheb of Seohar.
            • Rai Bahadur Babu Sri Vindeshwari Saran Singh, born October 1884, married and had issue.
              • Babu Sri Maheshwari Saran Singh, married and had issue, one son. He died 15th February 1950.
                • Babu Sri Sureshwari Saran Singh, married and had issue, seven daughters. He died 27th May 1979.

    • Rai Bahadur Babu Sri BHAGWATI SARAN SINGH, Zamindar of Anapur -/1945, born 10th September 1884 at Anapur in Allahabad District, closely related to the Maharajas of Benares and Bettiah; educated at a Maktab, Sanskrit Patshala and a Government High School in Allahabad; widely travelled, he was a great philanthropist who donated generously for education and other humanitarian causes; Member of Sanskrit University, Varanasi and B.H.U. council; he established an intermediate college at Anapur; a former Chairman of the Gaya Landholder’s Association; Member of the Gaya Municipality; Member of the Court of Ward Advisory Committee, Allahabad; President, Shri Gauri Shankar Smarak Sanskrit Pathshala Trust at Shringverpur; Member, Minto Memorial Park, Allahabad and the Sir Ganganatha Jha Memorial Research Institute Board; Trustee, Indrabas Kumari Memorial English School, Anapur; he served as M.L.C. of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and was also member of the zamindars association of Agra and Awadh; foundation Member, Newspapers Ltd., Allahabad and of the Agra Province Zamindari’s Association of which he was the honorary General Secretary; founded and endowed the Moore Upper Primary School, Anapur, the Bishop-Anapur Dispensary and the Lady Hallett Women’s Hospital; he maintained a charitable Ayurvedic dispensary and a home for the destitute at Anapur; he endowed large landed properties for the dispensaries at Anapur and the Hindu University; he worked as Honorary Special 2nd class Magistrate, Allahabad; he subscribed liberally to the prosecution of the war; he was a progressive and liberal zamindar and had constructed a large number of wells and reservoirs for his tenantry; he owned a model farm and a cattle breeding dairy and possessed a good library; he was conferred with the title of Rai Bahadur in 1941; married 1stly, 1901, Srimati Maiya Godavari Kuer, daughter of Raja Rameshwar Prasad Narain Singh Bahadur of Maksudpur, married 2ndly, Srimati Babuain Chandrakala Devi, she died 14th January 1984, and had issue, three daughters (by first wife). He died 2nd March 1945 in Benares and was cremated later the same day.

      • Srimati Lokeshwari Kuer [Rani Lokeshwari Devi of Tamkuhi], married Raja Jitendra Pratap Bahadur Sahi of Tamkuhi, and had issue, three sons.
        • Raja Khargendra Pratap Bahadur Sahi, he succeeded his father to the Zamindari of Tamkuhi.

      • Srimati Vidyavati Kuer
    • Rajkumar BISHESHWAR PRATAP Bahadur Sahi, Zamindar of Anapur 1945/1989, born 4th March 1936, he succeeded his maternal grandfather to the zamindari; married 1950 at Baidyanathdham, Deoghar, Rani Manorama Devi, and had issue. He died 9th April 1989.
      • Kunwar Rajeshwar Pratap Sahi, he became joint owner, with his younger brother, of the Anapur Zamindari (see Tamkuhi)
      • Hon. Justice Kunwar Amreshwar Pratap Sahi, he became joint owner, with his elder brother, of the Anapur Zamindari (see Tamkuhi)
