Short History

Banganapalle was held by a Hindu ruler prior to 1651. It was conquered by Ismail Adilshah along with the surrounding jagirs and were conferred by him on his General, Siddu Simbul, later on, the whole of the Deccan was conquered by Padshah Aurangzeb, and as a consequence, Banganapalle passed directly under his supremacy. The Mughal Emperor appointed Muhammed Beg Khan Rosebahandi, the uncle of his minister Mubariz Khan, as Killedar of Banganapalle. The descendants of Muhammed Beg Khan held the jagir till the death of Fazle Ali Khan II in 1769. As he died without issue, he was succeeded by Saiyid Husain Ali Khan, his sister’s son by Saiyid Muhammed Khan Nughadi. After his death in 1783, Tippu Sultan was offended by the widow of Husain Ali Khan, and the family had to flee after the jagir was confiscated. They entered military service in Hyderabad, and earned great repute there. Eventually they gathered a force and marfched on Banganapalle, killed the killedar, Kutbudin, at the battle of Tamadpalle, and regained their ancestral property in 1793. Also has 13 Jagirs within the state.
