Short History

The State ranks as a fourth – class State in Bombay. The family claim descent from Kumar Shri Vijaypal, second son of Raja Kesar Dev, Raja of Kerantigadh to 1089, and his second wife, Rani Sakti De. The seat of the Thakore is at Ilol, the chief town of the state. He is a tributary chief, paying the Gaekwad ruler, Rs 1863-3-1 p.a. as ghasdana and the Maharaja of Idar, Rs 428-5-1 as khichdi and Rs 16-12-2 as Ahmednagar salami hak.

In his time the status of the State was raised to the Third Class as a personal distinction. He died on 30^th April 1898.

• Thakore Shri VAJESINHJI MANSINHJI, 16^th Thakore Saheb of Ilol 1902/1927, born 1895, succeeded 29^th October 1902, he was granted full ruling powers on 21^st February 1916, married and had adoptive issue. His powers were raised to those equal to Third Class Chief as a personal distinction. He died 1927.
